We offer support and training for those individuals who is planning to start up their own business.
Individuals may be those for example, who are changing career, returning to work or unemployed and choosing self employment as a career option. This course is offered free to anyone who is unemployed or due to be made redundant and where eligibility criteria are met. We can also offer additional support in sector specific training to run alongside the Business Start Up Programme. For those who fall outside of the funding criteria please contact one of the team for costs.
What routes are there?
We have a course which can be offered to meet the needs of a group or as an individual and which covers topics such as the following:
- Choosing and registering a legal structure for your business
- Choosing and registering a name for your business
- Registering for taxation
- Setting up accounting systems
- Ensuring that your business meets all applicable legislation and regulations
- Ensuring that your business meets all appropriate quality standards
- Opening a bank account
- Arranging for appropriate insurance
- Protecting your business' intellectual property
- Writing a business plan
Course duration may be up to 7 days depending on requirements.
Alternatively we are able to offer accredited qualifications:
- Level 3 Start Up Your Own Business qualification – 30 hours of supported training accredited by Edexcel
- ILM Level 3 Award –12 hours of supported training
The qualification Standards for the NVQ Level 3 in Business Start Up enables individuals to gain a qualification that will provide them with the skills and knowledge to set up a successful business.
Designed to meet the needs of the client, the course can be anything from 6 – 30 hours.
If an individual wishes to receive accreditation eg an ILM award, 2 units could be delivered in two days. Where an individual wishes to complete the Edexcel level 3, the 5 mandatory units plus optional units can be delivered in up to 30 hours.
