Training Costs

The College will receive financial assistance from the Skills Funding Agency towards the cost of delivery of the Framework. From the 1st August 2011 – the 31st July 2012 the College have taken the decision to waive fees however there will be a cost implication of £150 per learner which will help to cover Registration and Certification costs through the Awarding Body.

Apprenticeship Progression Grant

Following excellent results from our involvement with Programmes for the unemployed, the college has been given access to monies to support employers in relation to the take up of Apprentices.

Eligibility - the Candidate:

  • Those on active benefits and who are 18 - 24 years. 
  • Benefits include:
    • JSA (Job Seekers)
    • ESA (Employment and Support Allowance)
    • WRAG (Work Related Activity Group)
  • Based on the home post code – Merseyside area

As part of our service under this Grant, we will work with you as the employer to select the most appropriate Candidate. The Candidate, as part of the eligibility criteria, is expected to attend pre-employment training through our college.  The training can be delivered around your business needs and will also include accredited qualifications eg Health and Safety in the Workplace.

Eligibility – the Employer:
On a first come first served basis (45 places available) eligibility is as follows:

  • SMEs:   1 – 249 employees
  • Has not previously employed an Apprentice or employed an Apprentice within the last 12 months
  • Already employs an Apprentice but can confirm ‘additionality’ ie where you would like to take on another Apprentice over and above but cannot afford do so without the aid of this Grant
  • European State Aid applies
  • The Apprentices must be employed for a 35 hour week including off the job training for the full duration of the Apprenticeship programme

About the Grant

The Grant is available to cover any additional costs of recruiting of a new employee or one returning to the labour market.

There are 2 Grant payments available to the employer, totalling up to a maximum of £2,500 and which is passed directly on to you the Employer at various stages throughout the programme.
